📓 NotebookLM Has a New Name: Gemini Notebook
The biggest news this week is a rebrand. Google announced that NotebookLM is now called Gemini Notebook. It’s the same tool you may already know — the one that reads your uploaded documents and can turn them into a podcast-style conversation — but Google is now tying it more closely to its main Gemini brand. The good news: nothing about how it works is changing, and it remains a standalone app you can use just as before. Google also mentioned the tool is getting smarter about helping you analyze data and even build documents like PDFs directly from your research.

✨ Gemini’s Spark Feature Is Spreading

🟠 Claude Added “Reflect” — A Look in the Mirror

It’s a personal dashboard that shows you your own usage patterns — what topics you’ve been asking about, how often you use it, and what kinds of tasks you tend to lean on AI for. Think of it like a step-counter, but for your AI conversations. It’s an interesting way to become more aware of your own habits with these tools.

🤖 Grok Can Now Run Tasks While You’re Away
xAI introduced Automations in Grok this week — a feature that lets you describe a task once (like “give me a morning summary of news about my hometown”) and have Grok run it automatically on a schedule, even while you’re asleep or away from your phone. It can also trigger automatically when a specific type of email arrives. This is a meaningful step toward AI that works quietly in the background rather than only when you’re actively typing to it.

💬 ChatGPT Voice Got a Major Upgrade
OpenAI rebuilt the ChatGPT Voice experience around a new model that can listen and speak at the same time, rather than waiting for you to finish talking before it responds. This makes conversations feel much more natural, closer to talking with an actual person than trading turns with a machine. It can also search the web and pull from memory in the middle of a spoken conversation, so it doesn’t lose track of what you’re discussing.

Richard, you are far from alone in this frustration! Tech companies rename products for all sorts of reasons — sometimes it’s a genuine redesign, and sometimes it’s simply to tie a product more closely to their main brand, the way NotebookLM just became Gemini Notebook this week. My advice: don’t worry about memorizing every new name. If a tool you like still shows up in the same place with the same icon, it’s usually still the same tool underneath, just wearing a new name tag.
